Hong Kong New Year's Eve

This is totally random, but this is a beautiful night shot of Hong Kong (by the Boy of course) on Star Ferry en route to Cheung Chau for a New Year Seafood Dinner.

Gee...that was almost a year ago...

Scandinavia 06 Travelogue: Berries! Berries! Good!

Sorry to leave you hanging with the travelogue, life got crazy with ending the previous job and all that jazz...

Here are local fruits in season the time we were there. They were ripe for picking all abound but the Boy didn't trust them to pick them off and eat. Ahh well...

We bought blueberries to snack on while sight-seeing though, turning our fingers and lips purple like thieves caught in a fruit shop. Lingonberries are VERY sour, not quite to our taste...

All Natural Love

I know the Boy loves me when he buys me breakfast cereal that costs $15.95 a jar. :)

Scandinavia 06 Travelogue: Helsinki

Helsinki is a relatively new city by European standards. Alot of its buildings are new, with some remnants of its Russian past evident in bits and pieces. So much so that it feels very neat and rather sanitary.

But after the madness that is Copenhagen, Denmark and Tallinn, Estonia, the boy and I do yearn for the tidiness and accessibility of Helsinki.

It's easy to navigate and well, not really that much to explore.

Scandinavia 06 Travelogue: Kebabs

We were overwhelmed by the steep Euros during our first few days in Helsinki and would only eat Kebabs as they were the cheapest food we could find. Not that we minded though, they were decadently delicious and filling, satisfying our travel-weary stomachs with hot and fast food.

It strangely made me happy that we were helping the immigrants selling kebabs out with the bills too.

Scandinavia 06 Travelogue: The Image That Got Stuck

This is long due, an update on our crazy backpacking trip to Scandinavia where we covered four cities in less than two weeks. It was exhausting, exhilarating and absolutely amazing race-like exciting. But we had some reprieve by the Baltic sea at a sauna resort in Helsinki.

And there - we found reprieve. The calm-ness that descended upon like a cloak was one of the most intense feeling I've ever experienced. And the image has been stuck in my head ever since - I keep yearning for that feeling again.

So I try to regulate the madness back in Singapore. I want that feeling again.
