This is not Mumbai...

lonely in Macau

The Boy took this pic of me in the quiet night streets of Macau last year. Sometimes, when feeling miserable, it's nice to look at pictures and think of better times.

I like the mood this picture captured. It's very real of how I feel about Macau.

Mumbai Travel I

Being in Mumbai is like going to war. Endless pollution, men staring at your chest, children begging for chocolate and money, the terrifying slums, the sweltering heat, the spitting, the incessant honking and the everchanging smells - it is like an assault of the senses of explosive proportions.

But the colours from all corner, the children tugging at you to take a picture of them ( you don't even have to show them the picture), the excellent service and charm all around is quite a thrill. I probably wouldn't want to stay too long in Mumbai ever (a day in Mumbai is equivalent to smoking 80 - 100 cigarettes) but it would be a place I would love to re-visit, get to know and make my friend.

Dinner at Trishna, swanky and popular restaurant for Manglorean food. A bit stuffy and too upmarket for my liking.
Promfet curry, spinach with paneer and the naan that mr J loves so much...

Insisted to the driver we wanted to eat real local food, no stuffy restaurants, nothing meant for pampered tourists and he brought us to a little hole in the wall with good cheap food but very dubious straws. Well, the food was great and the naan was fabulous, mr J is a compulsive naan-eater.
ahh..much better, lunch with the workers

Here's the spread, we are addicted to paneer anything.

hot, sweltering and we had to share our table, but I love it!

They really like gathering in groups and standing under the hot sun to chill..

en route to haji ali mosque

I'm hungry and going for dinner. This will be continued...

Bombay Sapphire

In Mumbai now.

Just braved a 2 hour cab-ride from the airport to the hotel. Cab driver going at 40km/hr in a cab full of mosquitoes is not something lainey likes. Oh well. Braved it rather unscathed. Braved booksellers along traffic junctions and beggar children working on my sympathy. Tempted to give in to both but will prob do it when the boy is around instead.

I met my uncle on the plane, hopefully he can bring me around after his meeting is done.

Life is strange. Ahh well. I will go down to get some food.

The question is, do I have the courage to wander out on my own?
